Joseph R. Cohen, DDSJoseph R. Cohen, DDS is founder of Southwest Pain Management Associates. He manages our Orofacial Pain Program. His practice focuses on orofacial pain including atypical tooth pain and headaches, trigeminal neuralgia, temporomandibular joint disorders as well as oral appliance treatment of sleep apnea. Dr. Cohen is board certified by the American Board of Orofacial Pain, one of only five in Central Arizona and is past president of that board. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American Dental Association, American Association for the Study of Headaches, American Pain Society, and is past president of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Orofacial Pain Center at UCLA. He is also responsible for TMD and Orofacial Pain Education at Arizona School for Dental and Oral Health, a clinical instructor at Midwestern University, College of Osteopathy, Arizona Campus and is one of eight national consultants for the American Dental Association, Commission on Dental Accreditation assigned as a site reviewer to recommend which TMD/Orofacial Pain Graduate Programs qualify to be accredited by the Commission on Dental Accrediation (A Federal Agency). Dr. Cohen is a graduate of the University of Arizona and the University of Tennessee Dental School and has been in private practice in Phoenix since 1971. He has authored many articles and has lectured on Craniomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain all over the world. Dr. Cohen is frequently asked to consult by the Doctors at Mayo clinic regarding treatment of TMD and Orofacial Pain.

Sandy Gallo, NP Sandy Gallo, NP, specializes in pain management, and has an extensive background in headache medicine and woman's health issues. As a certified nurse practitioner with a masters degree in Science and Nursing, she can order diagnostic testing and prescribe medication and physical therapy
Robin Bedingfield, DPT
Physical Therapy
Robin Bedingfield, DPT Our physical therapy program is managed by Robin Bedingfield, DPT. Her practice focuses on management of chronic and complicated pain with physical therapy approaches that respect the patients' pain levels. Interventions focus on patient education and self-management techniques, home exercise programs, and extensive use of gentle hands-on techniques to restore proper movement patterns and reduce pain. The patient's functional goals are defined and incorporated into a mutually agreed upon treatment plan that strives to reduce pain, restore functional movement, and prevent further impairment and disability. Dr. Bedingfield received her Doctor of Physical Therapy and Master of Science in Physical Therapy degrees from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine allied health programs in the Phoenix area, and is also certified as a personal trainer.
Ivy Segal
Office Manager
Ivy Segal Ivy has worked with Dr Cohen and Southwest Pain Management since 1986. She is married with two children and one granddaughter. Ivy received her undergraduate degree at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York and her Masters in Reading from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was an elementary teacher before switching professions to the medical/dental field in 1981. Ivy also received her MBA in health Care Management from the University of Phoenix in 2001.
